Spires:

Working Titles: Landmark or, Memory of a Farm

These landmark spires measure 20x4x4', made of steel, barn board, field stone, wool, hay, feathers. Their shape refers to the roofline of New England towns with church spires rising up above homes and businesses. The materials are of  the farmsteads that created the communities and townships of New England. One only has to walk in the woods to see the old toppled foundations and walls of lost farms and barns. These spires are a memorial of sorts for the institution of farming and the fields and animals that designed our landscape.

These spires will be shown as a group of three in a show at Chesterwood this summer 2015. I also imagine them at rest stops along 89.
